Problems by launching the iTunes Library for DJay

Hello
first of all I love Djay. It's THE BEST Tool on my mac.
Several weeks ago, I have a problem by starting DJay. The iTunes Music Library can not be found by DJay. After the msg box i tried to connect to the itunes Music Library . xml.
Nothing happens.
I am running Mac Os-X 10.6.2 on a macbook with DJay 3.0.1.
Can anyone help me. I got no answer from support at this time.
Thx.

Anton

Re: Problems by launching the iTunes Library for DJay

Does iTunes work when you start it?
And do you still get this error message when you start djay?

Thanks!

Re: Problems by launching the iTunes Library for DJay

Hello Anders,

yep, iTunes is working perfectly and I still get the same msg when I start DJay.
Should I send my XML File to the support?

Thx

I’m not sure I understand. You say you are using djay, but does the iTunes library load at all in djay?

Re: Problems by launching the iTunes Library for DJay

Hello Anders

first of all Thx for Your reply.
I'd installed Djay last Year. Everything is running fine.
After a HDD crash I reinstalled all my apps. Everything is running perfect.
iTunes, iMovie etc. except of Djay.
Djay can't load the iTunes Music Libary XML file. Thats what Djay show me in a window, during the starting process of DJay..
I tried to allocate this via the search Button, but always the same result. No Libary was found.
iTunes is running without any problems!!!
For your information. All iTunes db or xml files are on the HDD of the mac. The MP3 or AAC files of the songs are on an external drive. But this Config was running last year with DJay. All my Playlists and Samples can't be found at this time by Djay.

Thx in advance for your response

Re: Problems by launching the iTunes Library for DJay

I have the same problem as Anton, except I did not have a HD crash.

I am running Mac Os-X 10.6.2 on a macbookpro with DJay 3.0.1. My iTunes library is 177 GB

Today DJay just stopped being able to locate or load itunes xml file.
Initially I was given the prompt window to locate a library, I selected the Itunes xml file. Then it would just give an error message and the same "locate a library prompt window" would come up.

I am a pro dj and use this software everyday so this is a serious issues.
I have found a single very clumsy work-around.

You can drag individual tracks from itunes directly onto the respective decks in Djay and they will play without needing to be re-analyzed. The original Djay BPM data is retained, but the previous cue point data is not retained. But even after playing in Djay the tracks will not appear in the Djay library.

I have only used this work around once so far but now when I start Djay I don't get the prompt window asking to locate a library. Djay just starts with no music library at all and when i try to use the get a library command from the menu bar nothing happens. I don't even get the select a library prompt window as i did when this problem first began.

fyi
When I try to open itunes xml file in text edit I get this error message

The document “iTunes Music Library.xml” could not be opened. Text encoding Unicode (UTF-8) isn’t applicable.

The file may have been saved using a different text encoding, or it may not be a text file.

I ran disc utility to verify permissions I only get one detail (below) which should have no effect.

Permissions differ on "usr/share/derby", should be drwxr-xr-x , they are lrwxr-xr-x .
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAgent" has been modified and will not be repaired.

I am able to open the djay Preset Library.xml in Text edit the file opens and looks like this

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
    <key>Song Presets</key>
    <dict/>
    <key>Turntable Presets</key>
    <dict/>
</dict>
</plist>

please advise

Re: Problems by launching the iTunes Library for DJay

Oh Yeah rsonightshade,

It seems to be the same problem. I still get the prompt window to locate a library. By selecting the Itunes xml file. I get the same error msg again and again like you.

My question to you, did you got any problem solving instructions from the DJay staff? Can you operate with Djay now? Or is the defect still working?

Your workaround is not practicable for me, cause i'm using a lot of music files and samples during mixing.

Thx
